About

Hello 👋 I’m Yifei Li, a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of British Columbia, where I’m fortunate to be supervised by Prof. Laks V.S. Lakshmanan and Prof. Renjie Liao. My research currently centers on LLMs: how to use black-box LLMs more efficiently, and how to better guide their generation toward specific goals. I enjoy working on principled methods for problems that matter in real-world settings. More broadly, I am interested in making AI systems more capable, efficient, and adaptive to changing environments.

Before UBC, I studied Computer Science at McGill University and worked with Prof. Reihaneh Rabbany on building tools to help combat human trafficking in Canada. I’ve also spent time in industry at Morgan Stanley, Huawei, and Global Relay.
